The Newspaper Guild has little if any relationship with this corporation, which has repeatedly shown itself to be anti-worker at the same time it has occasionally been progressive (the establishment of minority opportunities, the first regular gay/lesbian column in a major mainstream paper, the establishment of USA Today), but so much has proven to be a facade and window-dressing vs. true progress. Indeed, in the last few years, it was successfully challenged on libel matters -- with the finding that it didn't pay its workers enough to keep the best, nor did it train well enough.
